Just before lunchtime, the show saw a “special guest vehicle” arrive in the form of a familiar 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria, featuring the can’t-miss megaphone strapped to the roof. A small fleet of “Retro” T-Birds also showed up to the party, but were asked to park in a separate lot slightly away from the show field so as not to detract from the early two-seaters. While the month’s event was seeking out first-gen Thunderbirds, it also attracted a variety of other Blue Oval vehicles, including Mustangs, pre-40’s Fords, several Shelby Cobras, and even an early Bronco that were among the fine Fords on display at the show. Back in March, the event hosted the Thunderbird Club of the Villages, whose members came out to proudly display their 1955-57 Ford Thunderbirds (known in the hobby as “Baby Birds”) along The Villages’ main boulevard in the Spanish Springs Town Square. While the event isn’t Ford-specific, it does host certain weekends with Ford vehicles as the show’s main featured attraction. – If you take a short drive northeast from Orlando on a sunny Saturday, you just might find yourself in a small town called The Villages in Central Florida where they’ll be hosting their monthly cruise-in. Our members represent all walks of life, but share one common interest, the love of their Thunderbirds. VTKC is dedicated to the preservation of all Thunderbirds. Our members are a great source to finding parts for your restoration project, but the International Club (VTCI) will allow you to find expertise nationally and abroad. Some of our Thunderbirds are award winners at the national level, a few are in the process of getting there, but many are simply enjoyable drivers. The events are published in the monthly newsletter “Birds Eye View”. Our events include car shows, local cruises, one day Spring cruise, two day Fall cruise, Fall dinner party and ending the year with our Christmas Party. VTKC plans to have at least one event each month allowing the members to drive, show and enjoy their Thunderbirds. A planning meeting is held in January where members decide the functions and events for most of the year. VTKC is an active club with many different events, of which members can select their own level of participation. The best way to restore, preserve, drive and enjoy a Thunderbird is to belong to a club with others of the same interests. The Vintage Thunderbirds of Kansas City club has grown steadily through the years to now average 60+ family memberships annually, with even more Thunderbirds among the membership, most body styles offered are represented in our club.Ī Thunderbird club is the best avenue to find and acquire a Thunderbird, parts or services. We are a local chapter of the Vintage Thunderbird Club International (VTCI), recognizing all Ford Thunderbirds from 1955 through 2005.
